antSCAR and SALE are committed to free and open access to all data and to the preservation of data for generations to come. SALE adheres to all SCAR and ICSU /WMO IPY Joint Committee data policies and procedures. Access to SALE data is through a combination of international data repositories and centers and national data management centers. This site does not store raw data but acts as a portal to data sets and archives through these existing data centers.

Joint Committee on Antarctic Data Management (JCADM) - In order to coordinate Antarctic data management, the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) and the Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs (COMNAP) established the Joint Committee on Antarctic Data Management (JCADM) in 1997.

The Antarctic Master Directory (AMD) is a part of the Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) and provides portals to national data centers.
